Paul McCartney was in a particularly revealing mood when he spoke with Howard Stern for 90 minutes on Wednesday, just days before the release of his new album Egypt Station (available 9/7).

The discussion spanned McCartney’s life — from losing his mother as a young boy through Beatlemania to his new album.

Find out whether McCartney was bothered by other groups copying the Beatles early on, what his father thought of the song “She Loves You,” why he turned down a role playing Romeo in the movie Romeo and Juliet, how he feels about constantly touring, and which Beatle was responsible for breaking up the band — among other topics.

Stern’s interview with McCartney is part of a full week of programming on SiriusXM.

The Beatles Channel (Ch. 18)’s special programming features McCartney taking listeners track-by-track through his new album, as well as an exclusive “Making of Egypt Station” special, where McCartney gives a rare, in-depth look into his creative process. The week also included a replay of his historic 2010 Apollo Theater concert — exclusively for SiriusXM subscribers, as well as a guided look back at the making of the Band On The Run album and a double dose of the channel’s listener-voted, Paul-themed “8 Songs a Week.”

Plus, the channel is playing song from the album every hour throughout the week with commentary from Paul, as well as “Then and Now” sets featuring classic Beatles and McCartney solo tunes, celebrity “My Fab Four” segments dedicated to Paul and much more! Click here for the full schedule.

Classic Vinyl (Ch. 26) is also celebrating Paul by playing music from all eras of his career including with the Beatles and Wings as well as songs from Egypt Station.
