Goo Goo Dolls are prepping the release of their 11th studio album, Boxes, due out May 6. Following up 2013’s Magnetic, the new effort sees frontman John Rzeznik – who usually writes alone – going outside his comfort zone and opening himself up to working with other artists.

His collaborators on Boxes include Gregg Wattenberg (with whom Rzeznik wrote four songs on the Goos’ 2013 album Magnetic), Wattenberg’s production partner Derek Fuhrmann, and Drew Pearson (who has worked with Phillip Phillips and OneRepublic).

The result: “a vibrant, sonically forward-looking album that manages to retain what their legions of fans love about the Goo Goo Dolls — indelible melodies, intimate, heartfelt lyrics, and the anthemic, uplifting vibe of their songs — while pushing new boundaries in terms of sound and production.”

Along with its tour announcement, the band shared the album’s first single, Over & Over. Now the four-time Grammy Award-nominated band has premiered a brand new song titled So Alive, exclusively on The Pulse (Ch. 15)!

Here’s what the band had to say about the new track and working with their collaborators:
