Bruce Springsteen sat down for a wide-ranging interview with his longtime friend Tom Hanks at the Beacon Theater for Tribeca Film Festival’s Tribeca Talks: Storytellers series on April 28.

Their intimate, career-spanning conversation spotlighted Springsteen’s unique place in American musical history.

The laid back, hour-long conversation tackled everything from Springsteen’s first gig, to his decision to become the “benevolent dictator” of his band, to the band’s first record deal to subjects like tax evasion, pop music and the film Hanks called “the strongest union of our two names”: Philadelphia, directed by the late Jonathan Demme.

The unique conversation will air on Bruce Springsteen’s exclusive SiriusXM channel E Street Radio (Ch. 20) and through the SiriusXM app on smartphones and other connected devices, as well as online at siriusxm.com.

“Tribeca Talks: Storytellers” spotlights pioneering creators who work across mediums to tell their stories. The series runs throughout the Tribeca Film Festival, which is presented by AT&T.
