Land Line Now – The 8th Annual OOIDA Truckers for Troops Telethon
Airs Monday 11/10 through Friday 11/14 at 7 and 11 pm ET on SiriusXM Road Dog Trucking, Ch. 146
This effort raises money to send care packages to our troops overseas in Iraq, Afghanistan, and other hot spots around the globe. Last year alone, the Owner Operator Independent Drivers Association (OOIDA) sent 215 care packages serving more than 2,580 military personnel. Over the seven years of the Telethon, OOIDA has raised over $400,000, enabling the organization to send more than 2,700 care packages, serving more than 32,000 military personnel. Every single dollar raised pays for either the contents of the care package or the cost of shipping it. OOIDA staff volunteer their time to take care of everything else involved, so no money is spent on administrative costs. Each package contains enough for an entire military unit, increasing the number of people they are able to serve.
