The 50th annual CMA Awards set the country music world ablaze with scorching hot performances and amazing moments, highlighted by Garth Brooks taking home his fifth Entertainer of the Year award. The SiriusXM family is incredibly happy for our “co-worker” and face of The Garth Channel and would like to congratulate Brooks on his monumental achievement.

Other SiriusXM partners also took home some hardware, with No Shoes Radio’s Kenny Chesney becoming just the third artist ever to be awarded the Pinnacle Award and The Highway’s Eric Church earning the Album of the Year award for Mr. Misunderstood.

Al Skop, host of The Road to New Country on The Highway, had high praise for the award show from start to finish. The night kicked off with a bang as legends and current stars came together for an incredible opening medley. Vince Gill, Charlie Daniels, Reba and Brad Paisley paid tribute to some of country music’s most iconic songs. The medley culminated with all the performers taking the stage to perform Randy Travis’ Forever And Ever Amen, with Travis himself joining them to sing the last lines of the song to a thunderous ovation.

Skop also highlighted Paisley’s retro costume changes while he co-hosted alongside Carrie Underwood and Highway Find’s own Maren Morris winning New Artist of the Year and giving an emotional acceptance speech.

Congratulations to all the 2016 CMA Award winners!
