While Game of Thrones fans impatiently await Jon Snow’s fate in the North, SiriusXM has headed down South to bring you a fresh twist on the HBO hit’s theme song.

Up-and-coming bluegrass band Flatt Lonesome performed the title sequence in our Nashville studio, trading the original score’s sweeping, medieval-inspired sound for a folksy, banjo-and-fiddle-laden cover that would make even the Hound jam out.

Like GoT’s warring houses, Flatt Lonesome is a family affair — minus all the bloody power struggles. The group consists of siblings Charli Robertson (fiddle and vocals), Buddy Robertson (guitar and vocals) and Kelsi Robertson Harrigill (mandolin and vocals), plus her husband Paul Harrigill (banjo) and pals Michael Stockton (resphonic guitar) and Dominic Illingworth (acoustic bass).

The fantasy series returns this month, but similar to the probably dead Snow (Kit Harington), we know nothing as Season 6 marks the first time the show has surpassed author George R.R. Martin’s source material, meaning A Song of Fire and Ice readers can no longer act smug after Red Wedding-esque shockers.

Catch GoT on April 24 at 10 pm ET on HBO, download Flatt Lonesome’s version of the main theme on iTunes here and click here for their upcoming tour dates.
