The BCS National Championship Game between Auburn and Florida State lived up to its billing Monday night.

Auburn controlled much of the first three quarters of the game, and entered the final frame up 21-13. All the Tigers had to do was hold on. But FSU had other plans. An interception to start off the fourth quarter led to a Chad Abram touchdown. Auburn responded with a field goal, but the ‘Noles answered right back with speedster Levonte Whitfield‘s 100-yard kickoff return for a touchdown.

Auburn’s Tre Mason scored on a rushing touchdown on the next series, giving the Tigers a 31-27 edge. It was then that 2013 Heisman Trophy winner Jameis Winston took over, leading FSU down the field, and sealing their national title with a touchdown pass to Kelvin Benjamin with 13 seconds remaining.
