Sassy country singer Elizabeth Cook has been a member of the SiriusXM family for a while now, hitting the air every weekday morning with her scintillating mix of music in Outlaw Country (Ch. 60). And that’s in addition to her day job (or are we her day job?) as a touring musician and regular on the Grand Ole Opry.

On June 17, ‘Exodus of Venus,’ her first LP in six years is coming out, and Cook let us celebrate by premiering one of the songs off the album, ‘Evacuation,’ on her show. Mixing her country blues with a swampy, bayou sound, Cook wraps a “laissez les bons temps rouler” attitude in darker imagery of flooding and evil spirits, dwelling on both the strength and the weakness it takes to stay on the same path, despite all signs warning of disaster ahead.

Elizabeth Cook’s Apron Strings airs in Outlaw Country on Mondays from 11 am – 2 pm ET and Tuesday through Fridays from 10 am to 2 pm ET.

You can find purchase information for the entire ‘Exodus of Venus’ album as well as tour info on Elizabeth Cook’s website.
