Cultural icon Dolly Parton stopped by the SiriusXM studios to talk to The Highway’s Storme Warren about her soundtrack for the new Netflix movie Dumplin. This soundtrack contains 30 songs, some of which are newly written, and others are Parton classics that have been re-recorded specifically for the movie.

The first single from the soundtrack, “Here I Am,” was originally released on her 1971 album Coat Of Many Colors.

Hear Dolly Parton talk about Dumplin’, the soundtrack and re-recording her song “Here I Am” as a duet with Australian singer-songwriter, Sia.

Sia isn’t the only artist making an appearance on the record. Other female performers got to sing with Parton for the soundtrack, too, including Elle King, Alison Krauss, Mavis Staples and others.

The plot of Dumplin’ shares an empowering message about self-confidence and features interesting complex female characters. The message of self-confidence and self-acceptance are carried through to the soundtrack as well.

In her conversation with Warren, Parton draws on her 50-year career to share her advice for female country singers who want to succeed in the industry in the #MeToo era.

Hear what else Parton had to say about being an icon for people to look up to, and how her ideas of self-confidence jive with her openness about plastic surgery.
