The Dean Obeidallah Show: Daily Show’s Hasan Minhaj, Justin Bieber’s right to privacy + more

This Saturday morning I’ll be coming to you LIVE from beautiful Boise, Idaho! (I’m out in Idaho because I had to perform stand up at Boise State University on Friday night.)

I’ll be joined Saturday morning by one of the newer correspondents on The Daily Show, Hasan Minhaj, who joined the show last year when Jon Stewart was still at the helm. Minhaj will give us some insight into what it’s like having a new host in Trevor Noah. Plus, Minhaj will talk about his new one man show about to open in New York City tilted, Homecoming King, which documents his trials and triumphs of being brown and Muslim in America.

Is it true that not all Muslims are terrorists but all terrorists are Muslims? Fox News and others on the right would have you believe that. But The Daily Beast’s Asawin Suebsaeng will join us to talk his recent article on Hindus in India killing a Muslim man and beating his young son severely because they believed the Muslims had eaten cow meat. As we will discuss, no faith has an exclusive hold on religious fanatics from Christians to Buddhists.

A Muslim in Idaho?! Yes, there are some (I met them!) and one of them will join me Saturday morning. Boise State University professor Said Ahmed-Zaid will talk what it’s like being Muslim and brown in a place that is almost all white and Christian as well as field questions for our weekly “Ask a Muslim” segment. Plus his wife Andrea, who is Christian, will join the show to share the challenges and joys of an interfaith marriage.

Can you legally force someone to remove photos of you on their Facebook or Instagram account? MSNBC’s Seema Iyer, Esq., is on to talk Justin Bieber. Okay, not how great or horrible Bieber is, but about the photos leaked this week of him naked. You may love or hate Bieber but the question is: does even Bieber have a right to privacy? And what about you? What happens if you are at a nude beach or wildly drunk or both and someone takes photos and posts them on Facebook or Instagram? Do you have the right to make people take these photos down because these images may get you fired or a prospective employer may see them and not hire you? Attorney Seema Iyer will let you know.

I hope you not only tune in Saturday, but also give me a call during the show. I want to hear what you think about the issues of the week!

My show airs live every Saturday at 10am to noon ET on SiriusXM Insight (Ch 121) and repeats several times over the weekend. It is also available On Demand. Hope you check it out and better yet give us a call during the show to “Ask a Muslim” a question, discuss issues of the week or even be contestant on our weekly segment “Name That Religion.” And as always, I want to be your Muslim friend – so if you don’t have one follow me on Twitter at @deanofcomedy and I’ll follow you back or ask me questions at
