Sure, Jon Jones is currently the king of the UFC Light Heavyweight division, the champion since UFC 128 in March 2011. But could he compete as a heavyweight?

Current heavyweight Daniel Cormier told SiriusXM Fight Club Monday that he thinks Jones would be a contender.

“I think he [would] be very successful,” Cormier said. “Jones, he’s a rare talent, man. He’s got all the skill in the world, he’s got confidence about himself. Even though he has some deficiencies, they’re not so big that the things he does well won’t carry him in a lot of fights with the heavyweights.”

Where does Jones stack up against current heavyweight champ Cain Velasquez, though?

“I truly believe that he [would] be at the top of the division,” Cormier said. “Do I think he beats Cain Velasquez? No.”

SiriusXM Fight Club airs Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays at 4 pm ET on Sirius channel 92, XM channel 208 and online on Sports Zone.
