Dan Rather recently had Nate Silver on as a guest and in addition to discussing the upcoming Presidential election, the two discussed the upcoming World Series matchup between the Chicago Cubs and Cleveland Indians. Silver and his FiveThirtyEight gang have predicted that the Cubs have the better chance at winning although, as the statistician pointed out, the model they used did not include a “Curse Variable.” (Although, maybe it should: A recent article on FiveThirtyEight is titled, “Even The Data Thinks The Cubs May Have Been Cursed.”)

Silver worked as a baseball analyst for five years before expanding into politics. He went on to state that the Cubs were “one of the best teams in the regular season in a long time.” He also pointed out that Chicago has a superior battery of starting pitchers, while Cleveland does have one variable in their favor: home-field advantage.

If Nate Silver’s prediction isn’t enough for you, our stable of MLB experts and analysts overwhelmingly predicted that the Cubs would end their 108-year-drought and take the Fall Classic (Anthony Rizzo was their choice for series MVP).
