Celebrate the Fourth of July with a hilarious, patriotic special featuring legendary comedian Robin Williams on Comedy Greats (Ch. 94).

Throughout the week, Comedy Greats is giving you Robin Williams: God Bless America, a four-hour block of content featuring the late Oscar winner performing for troops in Afghanistan and working out material after 9/11. Recorded late October 2001, listen to Williams work on material at Bimbo’s 365 Club in San Francisco. This recording captures the sense of heightened security felt in America immediately after 9/11, and showcases the comedy great bouncing thoughts and ideas around in preparation for his Live on Broadway special.

Working on Things

Recorded in December of 2006, hear Williams work out material at Bimbo’s 365 Club for his MGM Grand and Weapons of Self-Destruction specials. For any Williams fan, it’s another interesting view into Williams’ hilarious stream-of-consciousness thoughts, and what material he would choose to refine and include in his specials. It also features a lot of never-before-heard Robin Williams material.

Carpe Diem

Recorded in Kabul, Afghanistan, this recording gives a rare glimpse into the comedy Williams enjoyed doing overseas for U.S. troops. Also included with this is an introduction by actor and comedian Brad Garrett, who was one of Williams’ longtime friends.
