Chris HoganChris Hogan has the best seat in the house to witness the greatness that is Tom Brady.

As a receiver for the New England Patriots, Hogan not only gets to catch Brady’s passes during a game — like the 53-yard touchdown Hogan had against his former team, the Buffalo Bills, last Sunday — but he also gets to see what he does each week to get ready to play.

‘Brady goes about his work like it’s his first day’

“It’s amazing to me,” Hogan told Jeff Rickard and Kirk Morrison on the SiriusXM Blitz. “For a guy that’s been in this league for so long, and just to see him go about his work like it’s his first day … his professionalism is second to none and just the way that he goes about preparing each week. I learn a lot every single year that I’m in the league from different guys and how they go about their different types of routines that they get on and how they watch film and all that kind of stuff.

“Just sitting there in the meetings with Tom and watching him and how he goes about his business, and watching film with him, just the way that he sees things has helped me and I’ve learned a lot from him really just being with him through these pass couple months.”

‘I couldn’t have scripted that one any better’

Hogan couldn’t have been more ecstatic to catch a scoring pass in his second game against the Bills since leaving them after last season to sign with the Patriots as a restricted free agent.

“It was awesome,” he said. “It was a great thing for us, a great team win. They came up to New England earlier in the season and they beat us. We knew we were going to have to go up there and play four quarters of football. And I was happy to go back there, a place that I played a lot of football at and get a win. I couldn’t have scripted that one any better.”

Raiders’ Del Rio: Carr being ‘terrific student of the game’ key to success

Consistency.

As far as Oakland Raiders coach Jack Del Rio is concerned, it is the word that best describes what has helped his quarterback, Derek Carr, have a season that has made him a viable candidate for NFL MVP.

‘The process is really good’

According to Del Rio, it’s also the same reason the Raiders are 6-2 entering Sunday night’s game against their AFC West rivals, the Denver Broncos, who are also 6-2.

“I think the biggest thing for him and for us is just to continue to work the way we’re working,” Del Rio told Jim Miller and Pat Kirwan on Movin’ The Chains. “The process is really good. We recover from the last week and we dig in on the preparation. He’s a terrific student of the game. He comes in and really pores through the tape and really figures out what his problems are and where the answers are and works really hard with Mike Tice, our line coach who does a tremendous job with protection.

‘Real big test this week against top pass defense in the league’

“And that’s where it all starts for a quarterback. And between that and the timing that he has with his receivers and being in our system now, where he’s comfortable, I think a lot of things are going well.

“Obviously, we’ll get a real big test this week against the top pass defense in the league.”

Carroll: Healthy Prosise will ‘play a lot more’ for Seahawks

NFL Radio - 2014 TCT - Seahawks - HC Pete Carroll

The Seattle Seahawks thought that rookie running back C.J. Prosise would eventually step up and have the sort of performance he had in Sunday’s 25-20 loss against the New Orleans Saints.

It was just a matter of Prosise recovering from shoulder and wrist injuries he suffered in the first week of the season.

‘We’ve just been waiting and waiting for him’

“We’ve just been waiting and waiting for him,” coach Pete Carroll told Jim Miller and Pat Kirwan on Movin’ The Chains. Against the Saints, Prosise caught four passes for 80 yards — including a 43-yard connection with rookie receiver Tanner McEvoy — and ran four times for 23 yards.

Carroll said the performance has earned him more playing time, beginning with Monday night’s game against the Buffalo Bills.

‘We’re going to mix him in quite a bit’

“C.J. is going to play a lot here as we go down the stretch,” the coach said. “We really like everything (he has shown). So, finally, now that he’s back, we’re going to mix him in quite a bit, catching and running.

“And that’s a good plus.”
