NFL Radio - 2014 TCT - Jerry JonesDak Prescott proved early in his rookie season with the Dallas Cowboys that he is not a typical rookie quarterback.

Typical rookie quarterbacks don’t lead their teams to 9-1 records. They also don’t show the remarkable poise he has displayed whether on the road, or, as was the case Sunday, playing before a home crowd of 93,000-plus at AT&T Stadium, where he led the Cowboys to a 27-27 victory against the Baltimore Ravens.

And Prescott’s cool demeanor is one quality that has impressed Cowboys owner/General Manager Jerry Jones the most so far, although given his experience as a former Mississippi State standout, there is nothing about a big-time atmosphere that should rattle him.

“He’s played before a bigger crowd than this 100,000 we had here (Sunday),” Jones told Steve Torre and Bill Lekas on the Sunday Drive. “So there’s not a lot of things that shake him. And the big thing is how well he prepares, how he really does bring to the game really better execution than he does on the practice field.

“So all of that, you feel good about. You’ve seen it and every time he goes out there, though, as a rookie, you want to see it again.”

Brady Quinn: Cousins, Redskins shouldn’t get ahead of themselves

Kirk Cousins is having a tremendous season, throwing 17 touchdowns to seven interceptions, and posting a passer rating of 98.8.

By all indications, the Washington Redskins’ quarterback, playing with a franchise tag this year, should be able to cash in in a big way after the season.

‘Maybe save that for closed doors’

Cousins certainly made that clear after leading the Washington to a 42-24 victory against the Green Bay Packers Sunday night. He threw for 375 yards and three touchdowns, with no interceptions, and had a passer rating of 145.8.

But, as Brady Quinn cautions, neither Cousins nor the Redskins should be careful not to get ahead of themselves.

‘They’ve got a lot of meat left on that bone’

“Now, his antics after the game, kind of that, ‘How do you like me now?’ comment in front of the cameras, to (Redskins General Manager) Scot McCloughan (after the game), I don’t know how I feel about that,” Quinn told co-host Bruce Murray on the SiriusXM Blitz. “It’s like, maybe save that for behind closed doors. Because he’s the thing. They’ve got a lot of meat left on that bone when you look at their schedule and you look at the division right now. I understand they’re playing well offensively.

“When you look down the road, they’ve got a road game coming up against the Cowboys this week, one of the best teams if not the best team in the NFL right now. Then at the Cardinals, then at the Eagles.”
