LeGarrette BlountHOUSTON — LeGarrette Blount is thrilled that his fellow New England Patriots running back, Dion Lewis, is back in the lineup after beginning the season on the physically-unable-to perform list with the lingering effects of a knee injury he suffered in 2015.

Lewis is a dynamic all-purpose back who also has a strong connection with the Patriots’ success. The team is 16-0 with him in the lineup, and they’re looking for the 17th time to be the charm when they face the Atlanta Falcons in Super Bowl LI Sunday.

‘His skill set is not limited’

“He means a lot, he means a lot,” Blount told Alex Marvez and Gil Brandt on Late Hits. “His elusiveness, all the things he can do from running the ball to catching the ball, route-running, pass-blocking. His skill set is not limited and he means a lot.

“He’s always a threat no matter where he is and what position he’s in on the field. He’s always a threat.

‘Him having the ball in his hand is always a chance of a big play’

“And him having the ball in his hand is always a chance of a big play, so we definitely needed him back at some point and we’re happy that we got him when we did.”
