Andy Staples on Texas A&M crashing the first College Football Playoffs rankings

Alabama, Clemson, Michigan and Texas A&M all made the grade for the first College Football Playoff Rankings of 2016. Sorry, Huskies.

College Sports Nation’s own Andy Staples was just as surprised as the rest of us with Texas A&M’s inclusion in the top four of the initial College Football Playoffs rankings. It’s not that the Aggies have a dreadful resume, it’s just that they were dismantled by Alabama a mere two weeks ago and that the undefeated University of Washington Huskies are, y’know, undefeated and in a power conference. So what happened? As Staples explains, the committee is unimpressed with Washington’s non-conference schedule. While you can debate all day the merits of A&M’s schedule, this is what the committee went with. Staples also points out that all the Huskies need to do is keep on winning.
