Ryan Braun’s 65-game suspension for using illegal performance-enhancing drugs has elicited many responses from sports media. Perhaps none stronger, though, than that from Mad Dog Radio’s Adam Schein.

“What an absolute fraud. What an absolute liar. What an absolute loser. What an absolute pathetic disgrace. Ryan Braun makes me sick,” Schein said Tuesday on his daily program, Schein on Sports. “Ryan Braun goes down as one of the all-time disgraces in sports.”

Several managers and former managers also spoke with MLB Network Radio about the news surrounding the 2011 National League MVP. Ken Macha, who managed Braun and the Milwaukee Brewers from 2009-10, said he thought Braun, “kinda knew that he was going to get suspended, and it was just a matter of when it was going to happen.”

Another former Brewers manager, Ned Yost, said that he “never saw any signs or had any suspicions” regarding Braun.

San Diego Padres manager Bud Black finds himself in a unique position as penalties stemming from the Biogenesis clinic are leveled. One of Black’s current players, Yasmani Grandal, has already been suspended by the league for using performance-enhancing drugs. Now, Black will wait and see if any additional sanctions will be handed out to his roster.

“We’re keeping an eye on this because of the link of our players. And I wish I could tell you more about specifically our guys, but I don’t know,” Black said. “I don’t know exactly what’s going on with Yasmani and Everth [Cabrera, who has been linked to Biogenesis]. I do know that I have heard that Yasmani’s situation is a little bit different because he tested positive and he served his suspension. Whether there’s an add-on to that, I’m not sure.”
