Tuesday, Schein on Sports host Adam Schein took on Ryan Braun. Wednesday, it was Alex Rodriguez’s turn.

CBS News’ Jim Axelrod reported that Major League Baseball was considering a lifetime ban for the Yankee in connection with his alleged PED use late Tuesday. Schein said that while he doesn’t doubt the league has discussed such a harsh penalty, he does doubt that MLB Commissioner Bud Selig would go through with it.

“What I actually think is going on, I think that Bud Selig is floating this out there […] to coerce Alex Rodriguez into taking a deal, just like what happened with Ryan Braun,” Schein said. “Here’s the problem: You’re dealing with a fool.”

Schein added that if Rodriguez did get a lifetime ban, Selig would be treated like a hero in the Bronx.

“If that ever happened, Bud Selig could have his name retired in Monument Park. He would go down as an all-time great Yankees,” Schein said. “It would be Ruth, Gehrig, DiMaggio, Jeter, Reggie and Bud Selig, if he could ban A-Rod and get him out of that horrendous, horrific contract.”

Listen to Schein on Sports weekdays at 10 am ET on Mad Dog Radio, SiriusXM channel 86.
