At just 21 years old, Jordan Spieth is already halfway to achieving a career grand slam after capturing his first U.S. Open Championship on Sunday. Spieth finished one-under in the final round, and five-under overall for the tournament, edging out Dustin Johnson and Louis Oosthuizen by a stroke.

Following his victory, Spieth spoke with SiriusXM PGA TOUR Radio and discussed his accomplishment.

“Winning two U.S. Juniors, I always looked forward to trying to win a U.S. Open, and that’s conquering golf’s toughest task, and I feel like that’s what we did this week,” Spieth said. “The way things turned out, I’m still in shock.”

Spieth also spoke about his mindset going into the final hole after he double-bogeyed 17.

“I figured Dustin would birdie two out of the last three,” Spieth said. “When I’m on 18 tee box and I hear the roar on 17 because he fed it in there close to the hole, I knew that I needed a birdie.”
