NFL Radio - 2014 TCT - Colts - Andrew LuckThe Indianapolis Colts intend to be as patient as necessary with Andrew Luck’s recovery from the surgery he underwent on his throwing shoulder, a revelation team owner Jim Irsay made in January.

That’s what Colts General Manager Chris Ballard told Alex Marvez and Gil Brandt on Late Hits.

‘We’re going to make sure we do the right thing for the young man’

“Well, we’re not going to put a timetable on Andrew,” Ballard said. “And I’ve talked a long time with (coach) Chuck (Pagano), our doctors, our trainer and with Andrew. And we’re not going to put a timetable back on him. We’re going to make sure we do the right thing for the young man and make sure we get him back healthy, where he can finish out his career right and have a long time left to play.”

In January, Irsay, while not revealing any details, said Luck would be ready for the 2017 season.

‘Every day I’ve been in here, he’s been here and he’s been working’

Ballard said Luck’s rehabilitation is “going really well” from the operation to repair an injury that has lingered since 2015.

“He is an absolute tremendous young man, he works,” Ballard said. “I mean, he’s in the building every day. Every day I’ve been here, he’s been here and he’s been working. So when he gets back, when he’s ready to go and the doctors clear him and Andrew feels like he’s ready to go, we’ll get rolling.”
