Regardless what happens when the Derek Car-less Oakland Raiders take on the Houston Texans in the Wild Card round Saturday, former head coach and NFL legend John Madden thinks the team should be proud of the season they have had.

“There are certain teams in the NFL, that football is good when they’re good…I think the Raiders are one of them,” Madden told SiriusXM NFL Radio.

Finishing the regular season 12-4, the Raiders suffered a huge loss when their star quarterback, Carr, broke his leg in Week 16 against the Indianapolis Colts. Before the injury, it seemed they at least had a chance to win the AFC.

Current Raiders head coach Jack Del Rio isn’t ready for the season to end, expressing confidence in rookie quarterback Connor Cook playing under center in just his second NFL game.

“I did not see that deer in the headlight look,” Del Rio said. “He looked like, ‘yeah, this is what I do, coach. Thanks for tapping my shoulder and putting me in.”
