The beloved hoops/intra-dimensional beef film, Space Jam, turned 20 today. As for stars Michael Jordan, Bugs Bunny, Tasmanian Devil, Bill Murray, the Monstars… where are they now? Our intrepid SiriusXM team has dug up the dirt on these cinematic and hardwood legends to find out what has happened in the subsequent 20 years since Space Jam.

Michael Jordan

Having won three NBA titles for the Chicago Bulls prior to Space Jam, Jordan, upon saving the Looney Tunes, went to win another three titles with the legendary Chicago Bulls of the 1990s. Jordan’s legacy remains entrenched as the G.O.A.T. for the NBA and the standard bearer for greatness in modern US professional sports. Jordan is currently the majority owner and chairman of the NBA’s Charlotte Hornets franchise.

Bugs Bunny

Arguably the most iconic cartoon character of all time alongside Mickey Mouse, Bugs Bunny, cemented his singular status as G.O.A.T. of cartoons* with such classics as “What’s Opera, Doc?,” “Devil May Hare,” and “Knighty Kinght Bugs”. Bugs’ turn in Space Jam showcased a surprising amount of athleticism and basketball IQ for the cerebral and “wascilly wabbit.”

Bill Murray

Of course, Bill Murray was already a beloved Hollywood actor and comedian before he played himself in Space Jam, but the 66-year-old hasn’t let up since the 1996 classic. Heck, he even had his own Christmas special last year. Murray was last seen very inebriated and celebrating the Cubs winning the World Series for the first time in more than 100 years.

Tasmanian Devil

Taz, usually a whirlwind of activity, has settled down over the years. No shame in that considering he’s been around since 1954 when he first appeared in “Devil May Hare.” Also, he deserves a shout out for really expediting the cleaning process of the Tune Squad’s practice facility.

Lola Bunny

Can you believe it’s been 20 years since Lola Bunny appeared on our local movie theater screen? She made quite the first impression, just ask Bugs. Lola’s basketball skills earned her a spot on the Tune Squad, while Bugs earned a spot in her heart. The two wabbits have been together ever since, and she has since appeared in various iterations on “The Looney Tunes Show.”

Pound

After the Monstars lost to MJ and the Tune Squad, Pound and his team reluctanctly gave up their powers stolen from NBA players and asked to stay on Earth. Word has it he still lives here but hasn’t touched a basketball since.
