The latest polls show that the Washington Huskies are now in the college football playoff picture. Following the Dawgs beatdown of the Cal Bears and Texas A&M’s stunning defeat at the hands of Mississippi State in Starkville, Washington is dancing and would be facing the Alabama Crimson Tide if the playoffs were to start today. Joining ‘Bama and Washington are the Clemson Tigers and Michigan Wolverines who both held onto their 2 and 3 spots respectively. That quartet of course has the inside track, win and they’re all in. Same goes for still undefeated Western Michigan, if the Broncos win out they’ll very likely be crashing the New Year’s Six bowls.
For the teams right on the cusp of the top four slots? It’s a little more complicated, but Ohio State or Louisville (if they win out) will have a very strong case for inclusion; particularly the Buckeyes since winning out would mean they will have defeated Michigan.
One team that’s going to need some help in cracking the top 4? Big 12 leader Oklahoma. The Sooners, despite reeling off six straight wins, are still sitting in 11th in the rankings. Here’s OU head coach Bob Stoops discussing the rankings, his team and prepping each week:
