The Gospel Music Association (GMA), aka “the face and voice for the Gospel/Christian music community,” is holding the 45th annual Dove awards this Tuesday 10/7,
and SiriusXM will be honored with the Outstanding Mainstream Contribution to Gospel Music Award!
Reacting to the good news, The Message programmer Al Skop said “I certainly am honored that after years of having these channels available to everyone — to be enjoyed and used by all of our subscribers — that the industry is recognizing the impact that we have on Christian music.”
“We obviously have a higher calling,” continued Skop. “We entertain, but we are spiritually feeding the ears and the souls of everyone listening. We take that responsibility and that stewardship seriously. Delivering the message, as I like to say on our website, our slogan is ‘faith, hope and music from the heavens.'”
EnLighten programmer Kyle Cantrell also had a few kind words to say in response to SiriusXM’s Dove honor. “On the heels of the National Quartet Convention, we were delighted to hear of our station being honored in this way. This award is a tribute to the many groups who work incredibly hard to spread the message of the gospel — the very groups we play. We’re honored to get to play a role in that, and to be a part of Southern gospel.”
