Texas Longhorns season preview
When the Longhorns take the field in Week 1, they’ll have quarterback David Ash back under center after missing time with concussions. Houston Nutt is confident in Ash’s ability and leadership.
“I love his attitude, his commitment is there,” Nutt said. “He’s looking forward to it and I think the players will definitely follow him. He’s been through a lot and he’s ready for this thing and ready to accept this challenge. He’s not worried about any concussion.”
Arguably the top story line heading into the Longhorns’ season is Charlie Strong’s influence on the team in his first year as head coach. While he has a different manner than former longtime head coach Mack Brown, Nutt likes what Strong is bringing to Austin.
“It’s all business, you know that he’s no nonsense, very disciplined, lot of integrity,” Nutt said. “He’s doing some things that are a little bit different … but he’s doing a great job.”
