Arizona Cardinals 2014 training camp report from SiriusXM NFL Radio

August 15, 2014

SiriusXM NFL Radio’s 10th annual training camp tour made its final stop of 2014 at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Ariz., as Jim Miller and Pat Kirwan visited Arizona Cardinals camp on Aug. 14th.

Jim Miller is expecting running back Andre Ellington to have a very successful season in the Cardinals offense:

“There are big plans for this second-year running back out of Clemson. He’s probably going to get 18 to 20 carries probably as a running back, and then probably another six to seven receptions possibly in a game, so minimum 25 touches a game.”

Pat Kirwan agrees with Jim (and recommends Ellington as an excellent fantasy football pickup by the way), but he also has a concerned eye on young inside linebacker Kevin Minter, who is now the starter with Daryl Washington suspended for a year and Karlos Dansby now with the Browns. Says Kirwan:

[Minter] was drafted with this intention [of being a starting inside linebacker], but I don’t know if they were ready to do it at this point … He registered zero tackles last year. He’s never started a game in the NFL. He’s was active 13 times, which tells me he was running down special teams. He has no tackles. No sacks. No interceptions. No passes defended. No forced fumbles … this kid is going to be in a lot of tough situations in a division that shows no mercy in the run game.”
