QB Sam Bradford re-injured his ACL in the preseason game vs the Cleveland Browns and will miss the entire 2014 season.
Rams TE Jared Cook reacted to the Bradford loss on The SiriusXM Blitz.
“Now’s the time we gotta come together more than ever. We’ve still gotta have Sam’s back and he has our back. We know he’s going to be here this season and he’s going to help us out, still talk to us on the sideline and give us advice when we need it,” Cook said. “You just gotta roll with the punches, man. You can’t handle the cards that are dealt to you. You’ve just got to play with the hand that’s dealt [...] now it’s time to get our minds right even more and go attack the season. It’s just part of the game.”
Cook also took threw his support behind new starting QB Shaun Hill.
“Sean’s great. He has the offense down and he’s done a great job this whole preseason and through camp communicating with guys and making sure he gets the right reads and things. I mean, he’s a vet. He’s been here before. He’s done it before. So we have all the confidence in the world in him.”
Late Hits also spoke with former Rams head coach Dick Vermeil about how he handled the similar situation when he was in St. Louis which made Kurt Warner the starter after a preseason knee injury to Trent Green.
St. Louis Ram to Watch
Alex Marvez and Gil Brandt both have their eye on second year wide receiver Tavon Austin.
What he’s done is that I think he’s learned how to run routes; that you’re not just going to beat people with speed [...] you have to know exactly what to do against a defense and you have to do it real fast, because there’s a very short time in which you get to recognize the defense that people got [...] and I think that they’re also hoping that Austin can be a kick returner for them.
