Singer-songwriter Rosanne Cash and her husband, guitarist and producer John Leventhal, appeared on SiriusXM Outlaw Country‘s The Buddy & Jim Show to talk with Buddy Miller and Jim Lauderdale.
Miller and Jim Lauderdale hosted a special episode of The Buddy & Jim Show at the David Rubenstein Atrium at Lincoln Center during the Americana’s Music Associations first-ever Americanafest NYC. The episode featured live performances and conversations with their longtime friends Cash and Leventhal, along with Laura Cantrell and The Ebony Hillbillies.
The Grammy-winning daughter of country icon Johnny Cash talked about performing songs from her new record, The River & The Thread, at Americanafest NYC at Lincoln Center Out of Doors.
“We played it in sequence, and that was something I’ve always wanted to do is play a record live in sequence. I’ve seen a couple people do it and I just thought, that is such a cool thing to do. It takes commitment, you know, and it requires the audience to go with you on that. We’ve been doing it quite often. It’s been really satisfying … There’s a narrative to [the album] and it’s nice to present the whole narrative.”
The foursome also shared some funny memories, one of which includes Jim introducing Rosanne to John. Aw, Jim’s a matchmaker!
