Before she landed her dream job as co-host of EW Radio’s News and Notes, Julia Cunningham was just another pop culture nerd.
Q: Why do you love your job?
A: I was the kid who got in trouble for not doing schoolwork. One time I even had a meeting with guidance counselors and my parents because I said I wanted a job where I could just read magazines and watch TV. But here I am! You really can make a job out of something you love, and I’m so grateful for it.
Q: Which celeb guest did you geek out on the most?
A: We’ve had some really remarkable guests on our show, but the most surreal was Kermit the Frog. He sang to us! It was an out-of-body experience.
Q: What’s the weirdest things that happened on the air?
A: Our first year at Comic Con we were only two months old. The cast from SyFy’s Haven came in and Eric Balfour says he listens to us every day. We ended up holding hands during the entire interview.
Q: Who’s the nicest celeb you’ve met?
A: It’s a tie. The first is Ron Howard. He could tell I was nervous so he started asking me about my weekend, and putting me at ease. He was so chill and such a great interview. Then, the guys of Key and Peele are so well-spoken and so nice. They remember our board op’s name, they’re such gentlemen.
