Taylor Schilling, star of the hit Netflix series Orange Is The New Black, stopped by SiriusXM Stars‘ Wake Up! with Taylor to talk about her Emmy nomination for outstanding lead actress in a comedy series for her role as Piper Chapman.
“I was so excited. I was like ‘Ahhh!’ and I was outside, too. I called Marla and I didn’t know what to do. I wanted to like control the insanity. I was trying to be very controlling … I’m really excited about it,” she said.
But Emmy or no Emmy, OITNB has been a huge success in ways she never could have understood or predicted when she accepted the gig.
“I think it’s kind of exciting to see how the playing field, like there’s so many different ways for entertainment to be viewed now … Quality sort of rises to the top. When we started doing this Netflix was not even a thing. Nobody understood, I didn’t even understand. It didn’t make any sense to me, I was like ‘Okay, so I get this is a really good script and we’re kind of making like a web series … Whatever. But, it’s a really good script.'”
“And now, I think it’s kind of an exciting moment in time that what people respond to and what is exciting and what resonates with audiences will find an audience. They’ll find the good stuff.”
