Fashion Insiders at Super Saturday airing Tuesday 8/5 at 8 pm ET on SiriusXM Stars, Ch. 109
SiriusXM Stars‘ Fashion Insiders host Fern Mallis brings you interviews from the 17th annual Super Saturday benefit in the Hamptons! The Ovarian Cancer Research Fund’s (OCRF) 17th annual fundraiser is a one-of-a-kind designer garage sale featuring a kids’ carnival, luxury raffle and gourmet treats, hosted by Kelly Ripa and Donna Karan! Once dubbed “the Rolls Royce of garage sales,” it includes merchandise from over 200 prominent designers: Donna Karan, Ralph Lauren, INTERMIX, Nanette Lepore, Elie Tahari, Diane von Furstenberg, Rachel Zoe, J. Mendel, Oscar De La Renta, Prabal Gurung, Proenza Schouler, Stella McCartney, and more!
Mallis spoke to many of the star attendees. Here are what the fabulous Kathy and Nicky Hilton, ELLE Creative Director Joe Zee, and designers Nanette Lepore and Rachel Zoe have to say about this one-of-a-kind fashion event.
“We’ve come the last two years or three years and it’s something that we’re excited about from the beginning of summer. [Nicky] kept reminding me, ‘Don’t forget Saturday, Super Saturday,'” said Kathy HIlton.
Like mother like daughter, Nicky explains what she loves about the event.
“Super Saturday is just something that we look forward to every summer. It’s the most amazing designers, all under one roof, and 100 percent of the proceeds go to charity.”
Nicky also shares some information about her first book, 365 Style, set to publish this year on September 2.
“My first book is coming out this fall to coincide with New York Fashion Week … It’s this book I’ve been writing the past few years. My adoration of fashion, so it’s lots of tips, tricks, funny fashion anecdotes, a lot of personal photos and all things style.”
Zee discusses his involvement at Super Saturday.
“How amazing is this? Oh my god—beautiful weather, amazing cause, you get to shop. I am here with QVC. QVC’s a big sponsor of Super Saturday and I have a collection that I design on QVC. Plus, we also have a children’s design camp, my partner and I, and we actually have a pop-up here today,” he said.
“I think it’s really nice when people can get behind a cause such as this, and really do something. This is the 17th year of Super Saturday. It’s amazing to see how much its grown and become really like a temple event.”
Lepore has many memories from Super Saturday, and talks about her experience at the fashion event.
“I’m really happy to be here. I love Super Saturday. I have a photograph of my daughter from The New York Times when she was about three with her face was painted from here at Super Saturday. Now, she’s running the booth,” she said. “I love shopping at Super Saturday, but I’m going to try to control myself.”
For Zoe, Super Saturday is extremely special, and she shares exactly what her booth has to offer.
“I never miss [Super Saturday] unless I have to. Like last year, I was pregnant … I do have a booth here, I’m hoping everything’s gone by the time I get there. I’ve got my collection in there. I’ve got a mix of probably about 50 different designers in there. There’s some vintage, there’s Zac Posen, I think there’s everything in there. I usually never get to actually see what it looks like ’cause it’s gone by the time I get to it, which is great.”
“What don’t I love about the Hamptons? I’ve been coming to the Hamptons since I was born. My parents have pictures of me on the beach when I was not even one, so this is home for me. The beaches are everything, I have a thousand friends here, my family is here, so it’s perfect.”
