Classic metal gods Judas Priest recently stopped by SiriusXM for a Town Hall to promote their brand-new album, Redeemer of Souls. Hosted by comedian Jim Breuer, Glen Tipton, Richie Faulkner and Rob Halford sat down to talk about everything from their oft-debated appearance on American Idol to which pop stars they’d like to see cover their songs.

When asked which pop stars could (and should) cover their material, the band commented “I’d love to see Pink do Painkiller,” before adding, “We had a song on the Nostradamus album called Lost Love, which I always hoped Celine [Dion] would cover.” And as for Jennifer Lopez? “I think we’d let Jennifer Lopez’s butt do the singing.”

Later, Priest commented on their recent appearance on American Idol, which, according to a fan in the Town Hall audience, was met with “mixed reviews.” So, who’s idea was it to perform on American Idol? “It was a band decision,” they said. “We just wanted to promote heavy metal. Metal should be promoted. It’s the underdog. It needs to be elevated. Who wouldn’t want to be in 30 million homes for four-and-a-half minutes? It’s metal, metal, metal up your ass.”
