Kevin Love and the Minnesota Timberwolves don’t seem to have much of a long-term future. Love, who has voiced his frustration about the direction of the team, can opt out of his current contract and become an unrestricted free agent following the 2014-15 season. Thus, rumors have been flying around since the end of the regular season regarding trade scenarios involving Love, the T-Wolves and another NBA team.
ESPN’s Amin Elhassan joined SiriusXM NBA Radio this weekend and outlined which four teams he sees as the best trading partners for Minnesota – and why the Boston Celtics aren’t one of them.
“It all depends on Minnesota wants. With Flip [Saunders] becoming the coach and general manager, I can’t see a situation where Flip wants to have a rebuild situation. He’s not gonna put himself in a situation where his wins and losses is gonna be more losses than wins,” Elhassan said. “So he wants the greatest amount of assets in return. When you talk about that, I look at Golden State, I look at Houston, I look at Chicago, I look at Phoenix. Those are the four teams that can offer a nice mix of players, and maybe some picks here and there.”
