Prior to the start of the Super Regionals, SiriusXM College Sports Nation talked to some of the top coaches involved this round.
Kennesaw State, a No. 3 seed in the regionals, defeated Florida State, Alabama and Georgia Southern last week. Their head coach Mike Sansing joined Mike Ferrin on This Week in College Baseball to talk about their run.
“Times we’ve pitched extremely well, times we may have outhit somebody,” Sansing said. “It’s been one of those seasons where we look back and think ‘that was our year'”.
Peppardine will also begin Super Regional play Friday facing off against the No. 7 national seed, TCU. It’s the first time the squad has made it out of the regional round since 1992. Head coach Steve Rodriguez talked to Ferrin about what that means for the program.
“We’ve been to the regional championship five or six time since I’ve been here,” Rodriguez said, “and the Cal Poly team may have been the most offensive I’ve seen in a long time. Being able to get through something like that for the first time just meant the world for all of us.”
Rodriguez also talked about what his team will have to do this weekend.
The key for us is the two out hit. I know their pitching staff is going to be really good. I know offensively they’re going to scrap and crawl and do anything for runs and I think we’ll be similar. I think just being able to get guys into scoring position and trying to get some guys to get the two out hits. if we can jump out early and make them play from behind that would be great for us.
