For the 10th anniversary of the Aspen Ideas Festival, Indie presents Aspen Ideas Radio with SiriusXM Host Pete Dominick. The program takes a look back at some of the best moments from past Aspen Ideas Festivals.
The mission of the the Aspen Ideas Festival is to create a stimulating and invigorating conversation that links some of the foremost thinkers in the world today with civic-minded leaders in business, the arts, politics, philanthropy, etc., to both share ideas and drive thought to action.
The premiere show will feature audio from the 2013 Aspen Ideas Festival “Afternoon of Conversations.” The first part of the show will take a look at the conversation between Katie Couric and Twitter’s CEO Dick Costolo. The second part of the show will feature a conversation between Supreme Court Justice Elena Kagan and George Washington University law professor Jeffrey Rosen, during which she spoke about how the justices “of a certain age” deal with cases regarding new technology that they may not be familiar with.
“I think it’s a real challenge, we are all ‘of an age,’ but many of these cases really do rest on our understanding things we didn’t grow up learning, knowing, thinking about. And that’s true of technology issues, that’s true of scientific issues … but it’s a real responsibility for all of us to be open to learning new things,” she said.
