If you’re an ’80s synth-pop enthusiast, then chances are you already listen to Twin Shadow (aka Florida’s George Lewis, Jr.), who’s built a career crafting highly danceable synth-lined pop tracks.
Allegedly working on a brand-new album (the follow-up to 2012’s Confess), Twin Shadow took a moment to chat with SiriusXMU about his new single, To The Top, which the channel premiered this week.
Addressing the single’s noticeably rousing qualities, Lewis explained how he developed To The Top. “We didn’t set out to make this anthemic song. When [my keyboard player] and I were writing this song, it was really mellow. It almost sounded like this Beatles-type song. And it just got bigger and bigger and bigger and bigger. It just got out of control, out of hand. And it ended up being really anthemic. It’s the most rock-ish song we’ve probably ever had.”
