New York Yankees 2014 spring training report from MLB Network Radio

March 10, 2014

MLB Network Radio‘s Spring Training Tour rolled into Tampa, Fla., on Tuesday, where Jim Duquette and Mike Ferrin visited with the New York Yankees.

New York Yankees 2014 outlook

Over the past two offseasons, the Yankees vowed to keep their 2014 payroll under the $189 million luxury tax threshold. After nearly a quarter of a billion dollars in acquisitions this winter that included outfielder Jacoby Ellsbury, catcher Brian McCann and starter Masahiro Tanaka, Brian Cashman’s club went over that mark.

This year, Joe Girardi‘s team hopes to see a healthy Mark Teixeira and Derek Jeter return to form, and depends on the new faces in the Yankee clubhouse to replace the production of the retired Mariano Rivera and Andy Pettitte, and departed Curtis Granderson and Robinson Cano.
