Mayim Bialik talks onscreen kisses and backstage relationships on The Big Bang Theory

March 7, 2014

The Big Bang Theory’s Mayim Bialik recently stopped by SiriusXM’s Morning Mash Up! to talk about everything from going out for vegan food with co-star Jim Parsons off screen to kissing Parsons on screen in the recent Valentine’s Day episode. The real life neuroscientist said that she and the BBT cast text on the regular and have way too much fun together on set – especially when shooting group scenes.

“We do sometimes do stuff together or we do charity stuff together that’s kind of off camera that we choose to do together,” Bialik said. “It’s a fun vibe. Whenever we have group scenes, it takes forever ’cause we’re all talking and laughing, and we get into all sorts of trouble when we’re all in a scene together… Jim and I actually do things [together].”

Bialik’s character Amy had her first kiss with Parsons’ character Sheldon in the Valentine’s Day episode. Bialik refrained from revealing any spoilers for Amy and Sheldon’s budding relationship, saying the cast does not receive the scripts until the night before they start rehearsing for each episode.

“I’m sort of fine letting it evolve… Whatever they give me I do, that’s my job. I’m an employed clown,” Bialik laughed. “We’re not a soap opera, we don’t need to pick up plot points every week.”
