According to Martha Stewart, the “silver tsunami” is fast approaching – but what does that mean, exactly? Stewart recently sat down on One World with Deepak Chopra on Oprah Radio to discuss that and her new book Living the Good Long Life, which serves as a guide for living to one’s fullest after 40. Stewart went on to say that the American population is steadily increasing in age. Unfortunately, Stewart and Chopra noted that signs of respect for elders are hard to come by these days.
“I certainly don’t want to be waited on by somebody if I don’t have to be. And I think we can do a lot to prevent this kind of bad way of getting old,” Stewart said. “In America, the big problem is that we don’t respect older people as much as we should. It’s a cultural thing.”
Be sure to tune in for One World on Mondays at 7 pm ET on Oprah Radio, Sirius 204/XM 107.
