Let’s face it, breaking into the entertainment biz is no easy feat. Take it from actors Anthony Mackie and Kevin Bacon, who sat down with SiriusXM Indie’s Covino & Rich to discuss how they made it in the most fickle of industries.
According to Mackie, the first step to being successful in Hollywood is knowing where you ultimately want to end up. “You have to plot out your career… there’s a progression from job to job,” said Mackie. “It’s not a sprint, it’s a marathon.”
The next step to being a permanent fixture in Tinseltown is being open-minded to all roles. At the beginning of his career, Bacon expressed his reluctance toward pursuing a career in TV (even referring to himself as a “TV snob”), but his wife (Kyra Sedgwick, star of TNT’s The Closer) steered him in the right direction.
“I saw her experience and how good that was and I thought…I’m really starting to love television,” said Bacon.
