The 56th running of the Daytona 500 was only 38 laps old when Mother Nature took center stage Sunday, hitting the breaks on the festivities with torrential rains. More than six hours later, the green flag waived once again, and the Great American Race finished out under the lights.
A race that started with an emotional moment – the No. 3 car returning to the track and sitting on the pole – concluded with No. 88 Dale Earnhardt Jr. capturing the checkered flag.
Most likely short on sleep, Dale Jr., Steve Letarte and Rick Hendrick were then up early Monday morning to join The Morning Drive on SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
How did Dale Jr. celebrate his big Daytona 500 win? He finally joined Twitter!
