Shade45 host Rude Jude Angelini stopped by Wake Up! with Taylor this morning to discuss his new book HYENA, which includes short stories from the DJ’s life. Angelini said that he wrote HYENA with non-avid readers in mind. “My listenership does not buy books,” he said with a laugh. “If you look at my Instagram feed, it’s like people taking pictures of my book with things that they like in life. And it’s Jordans and pistols.”

Jokes about “Jordans and pistols” soon gave way to Angelini discussing the loves of his life, and the DJ turned author even started to tear up.

“Yo that whole thing, like I’m going through a breakup… I don’t know what to do to make myself feel better. Like I don’t know what to do to make that ache go away, I don’t know what to do to make that thing in my stomach go away, so it’s just like ‘OK, let me try this,’ ‘OK, let me try that,’… sex, drugs, that’s that band aid, it’s like you putting band aids on bullet wounds, it never heals, you’re just like trying to fill this void,” Angelini said.
