While winter is still very much in the air, Fall Fashion Week has heels clicking and cameras flashing all over the city. New Zealand native and designer Rebecca Taylor sat down with Refinery29 Radio to discuss the intense preparation and to give us a peek backstage at Fashion Week 2014 – spontaneous ’80s dance parties and all.

“We were all literally dancing around to Thriller…The models come in, and they’re like, you know, 17, and they’re like ‘Oh, I love this retro music’… I love dancing, so of course, you know, I’m quite happy to make a fool of myself in front of everybody,” Taylor said.

Taylor also discussed her collection’s current focus on soft, icy shades such as lavender and nudes as well as the importance of functional fashion for working mothers like herself.
