Was the Seattle Seahawks win over the Denver Broncos Sunday in Super Bowl XLVIII at all fluky? No way, Shannon Sharpe said Tuesday on SiriusXM NFL Radio.
“If the Broncos played [the Seahawks] 10 times in the next 10 weeks, the Broncos won’t win a game,” Sharpe told Pat Kirwan. “Here’s the thing, Pat. The score was 43-8. But if the Seahawks keep their foot on the gas, that’s a 53, that’s a 57, that’s a 60-8 ball game.”
Sharpe credited the Seahawks superior roster and all-time defense for the win.
“The Broncos have five players on their entire team that could start for the Seattle Seahawks,” Sharpe said. “I came into the league in 1990, left in ’04, and I’ve been around the league since. So in my 25, 26 years, the Baltimore Ravens of 2000 and the Seattle Seahawks are the two best defenses I’ve ever seen with my own eyes.”
Sharpe added that we was surprised at the pro-Seattle sound to MetLife Stadium, especially after observing a split in Seahawks and Broncos jerseys among fans.
