Friday on The Opie & Anthony Show, Ricky Gervais and Joe Rogan stopped by to talk with Opie, Anthony and Jim Norton about Twitter, the media and the c-word.
Gervais argued to the group that overseas, the c-word is actually a term of endearment.
“Hey Mr. Gervais,” he recalled a man in Scotland saying, “you’re a funny c-.”
Gervais took the comment as a compliment, he explained
The star of Derek and genius behind The Office also had a word for newscasts that choose to interview the man on the street, saying, “There’s a reason he’s in the street.”
Gervais also took issue with lackadaisical reporting in the media; he pointed to reports based on tweets, incorrect reports, and reports based off of other reports. He added that as social media outlets today offer everyone a voice, there is no longer a definitive “media.”
“We don’t know where it came from or where it started or who’s in charge,” Gervais said, “but everyone is the media.”
