SiriusXM celebrates the 50th anniversary of The Beatles’ first U.S. visit

Would you believe it’s been half a century since Paul McCartney, John Lennon, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr first touched down on U.S. soil?

Kicking off what would come to be known as the British Invasion, The Beatles first visited the U.S. on February 7, 1964, and were greeted by a whopping 3,000 screaming fans at New York’s JFK airport. The guys later gave their first U.S. televised performance on the Ed Sullivan show (with more than 73 million viewers tuned in) and played their first American show at the Washington Coliseum.

In honor of this momentous rock ‘n’ roll anniversary, SiriusXM is paying tribute with a variety of programming on ’60s on 6, Classic Vinyl, and The Spectrum:

60s on 6
Airing 2/7 at 3 pm ET – 2/10 at 3 am ET.
To commemorate the 50th anniversary of The Beatles’ first U.S. visit, ’60s on 6 will become ’64 on 6 (running February 7 – 9), playing the biggest British hits of 1964 all weekend long. Plus, Cousin Brucie will broadcast live from The Fest for Beatles Fans NYC on Saturday, February 8 from 6 – 9 pm ET, featuring live performances as well as interviews with special guests and audience members. Also, Peter Noone will host a show featuring British hits of 1964, and the Satellite Survey Show will feature a 1964 special.

Classic Vinyl’s Fab Feb
Airing Saturday 2/1 at 6 am ET hourly through Saturday 3/1 at 3 am ET.
Classic Vinyl’s Fab Feb special will feature special programming every hour throughout the month of February on channel 26. You’ll hear extra Beatles songs, important moments from the band’s history, and comments from the Fab Four themselves. 

The Spectrum
Airing 2/7 at 3 pm ET – 2/10 at 3 am ET.
The Spectrum will air a Beatles Covers Weekend special running February 7 – 9, featuring cover versions of Beatles classics.
