Tuesday on the SiriusXM Fantasy Drive, Ray Flowers offered three predictions at running back for the 2014 fantasy football season.
1. Believe in Chris Johnson
He will once again be underrated no matter where he players next year … Chris Johnson for the last three years, in a PPR setup, has been a top-12 running back, meaning in my opinion, he’s been a RB1. He’s boring, he’s hit-or-miss, he’s up-or-down, I totally get it. But in this day and age … these running backs can’t even make it through 16 games. They can’t do it. Chris Johnson not only has done it, he’s been a top-12 guy three years in a row.
C.J. Spiller will make us forget 2013 and remember why we all liked him so much in 2012. I think we will finally see next year the flipping of the cards because Fred Jackson, despite all the success he had this year, he is getting up there in age, he is nowhere near as dynamic a football player as Spiller, he’s trusted, he’s a good football player, but Spiller, with an offseason to get healthy, is gonna come back in and reclaim fantasy stardom in 2014.
3. Andre Ellington moving toward top of class
Andre Ellington will be a RB1 in PPR setup if the coaches in Arizona take the training wheels off … There have been plenty of running backs in the NFL that have succeeded at that size … Ellington can do so much in the passing game as well as the running game, you don’t have to have him just run it between the tackles, you can get him out in the flat in space.
