This weekend on SiriusXM Fantasy Sports Radio, Maurice Jones-Drew spoke about the upcoming offseason. Jones-Drew, a lifetime Jacksonville Jaguar, will be a free agent. He said on his program, Runnin’ with MJD, that he’d like to stick with the Jags.
“I hope that we can get something done here pretty quickly, and I’ve been saying that all year,” Jones-Drew said. “I hope that I’m back with the Jaguars, and if that’s not the case, then I’ll be able to talk to you guys then.”
As for his mindset this offseason, Jones-Drew said he’s concentrating on improving his game.
I’m not really looking for anything but to better himself, I think there has been some things said, and I don’t want to say taken out of context, but I try to answer certain questions, and I do all the time, in a truthful matter and a matter of fact matter. And when I did that, I think some people took that as, “Oh, I want a boatload of money,” or, “Oh, I want this,” and that was never the case. Everyone understands that as a free agent, it’s a bidding war for teams to bid on players. And at the end of the day, I just wanna make sure that I’m the best player I can be for whoever I may be playing for.
Jones-Drew added that he’s keeping his emotions out of free agency.
“I understand the business,” Jones-Drew said. “I understand that Peyton Manning can’t be a Colt for the rest of his life. Guys that we say are the greatest in the history of the game, yeah he moves from one team to another.”
