Trevor Knight: Bob Stoops ‘backbone’ of Oklahoma football

January 3, 2014

Red-shirt freshman quarterback Trevor Knight wowed college football fans Thursday night in the Sugar Bowl, throwing for 348 yards and four touchdowns in an upset 45-31 win over Alabama. Knight joined Dan Hawkins and Braden Gall on SiriusXM College Sports Nation following the game.

“It’s a special win for us, you know, just battling adversity all year long,” Knight said. “Personally and as a team, to come out here and get this win for our seniors, it truly is special.”

Knight credited head coach Bob Stoops for preparing his team for the defending national champs.

“Coach Stoops is a great leader, he’s the backbone of this program, and its special,” Knight said. “[It’s a] testament to the man he is and the leader he is, and I really enjoy playing for him.”

Knight continued to talk about Oklahoma’s high expectations for next season in the Big 12.
